This STEM Workshop is perfect to get your KS1 pupils working collaboratively and thinking creatively with hands-on invention and design activities.
They'll also be problem solving, collaborating and thinking creatively as they learn design concepts and skills linked to the Design & Technology National Curriculum.
"The workshop was great fun, pitched correctly and really easy to manage with the resource list provided. My class loved it!"
The workshop will take around an hour in total, though it can be made to last longer.
Pupils start by learning about inventions and specifically how inventions solve problems. We take part in an invention challenge to save the day of a character from a fairy tale, linking to multiple areas of the Design & Technology KS1 National Curriculum as well as literacy. You can even change the character to suit your own topic or book.
There's also a practical engineering challenge at the end which you can do to extend the learning on another day if you prefer, using any junk modelling resources or craft sticks and tape.
You can use the workshop with as many KS1 classes as you like for a whole school term on your own schedule.
If you want to get a taste first, take a look at the teaser module which gives you an idea of how the workshop is pitched or email laura@inventorsandmakers.com
Discounts are available for multiple workshops: 15% when you buy two or 25% when you buy three or more together.
The workshop is broken down into two parts with two shorter videos.
You can use these across separate days, separate lessons or go straight from one to the other. They are designed to flow on from one to the other, but you might want your pupils to take a break in the middle.
